About us
Wasteless Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2023 with the purpose of fostering international and national cooperation with other stakeholders and initiatives, maximizing impact, and extend the operational and research capacities of the Hungarian national food waste prevention programme, called Maradék nélkül / Project Wasteless. The Foundation focusses on consumer awareness-raising, education, and consumer protection.
Project Wasteless was launched in 2016 by the National Food Chain Safety Office, with the financial support of the EU LIFE funding programme. In 2018, the European Commission invited Project Wasteless to host the EU LIFE Food Waste Platform Meeting 2018 with 120 participants from all over Europe. The conference was launched with the keynote speech of the EU Commissioner for Environment and the EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety. In 2023, Project Wasteless was finalist of the EU LIFE AWARDS 2023 in the environment category, and it was officially recommended by the DG-SANTÉ’s EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste as a good practice in food waste reduction, based on the findings of the European Consumer Food Waste Forum and the JRC’s “Tools, best practices and recommendations to reduce consumer food waste – A compendium”.
